There's alpha arrogant heroes and then there's Vico, he was over the top cruel, controlling and demanding for me. Christian Grey and Gideon Cross were alphas and controlling, yes, but no where near this extreme. They were saints compared to Vico! Vico demanded, blackmailed and never backed down until the very end. What was missing for me? More dialogue scenes of their happiness and love together now, not just the epilogue and IMO we should have read what she said/did to her mother after she almost destroyed what they had. What she did to her own daughter was huge! Also her friends after the beginning of the book just disappeared, she never had anyone to turn to. Lise was a strong heroine and the one time she took a stand, something happened forcing her back to him, just once I would have liked to see her have the upper hand, he was too much of everything. Cliffhanger, no, hot, steamy, erotic, no not much scenes or details here, good story, yes, cheating, no, just assumed. Overall, an okay read 3.5 stars. It took me all the way until the end of the book to semi like him. I needed more of their happy now for him to be 100% redeemed. This is my first read in the series so I will try one more time with book II in this series, I know it's out of order buy hey, why not?!

Lise Helton was in pain. Rejected and cheated by her fiancée she went after oblivion drinking in a bar only to find another rock in the road. She, the untouchable Ice Queen, was vulnerable and her boss, Vicenzo Mattara intended on take over what she thought was hers, would take advantage of it. A man unable to forgive himself and a woman waiting for more, a war between them and one night of unleashed desires resulted in an interesting, intriguing, suspenseful and emotional story. Lise had been conformed with her life until she realized she was so much more than she had allowed herself to be. She was stubborn, fierce in defense of what she thought was right and decided to not be hurt again. Not easy around Vico. For him conquering the Princesses had become a challenge. But, Vico Mattara was full of guilt and regrets for his past sins, for what he was doing to Lise and even for what he could do in the future. A no win situation for him. He thought of himself not worthy and was constantly fighting his feelings, desires and vulnerability for the woman. He needed to make peace with his past and move on. Could he conquer his demons? So much suffering and misconceptions around them that blinded their common sense and added to the gap between them. Liked how the story was developed and how Lise’s inner struggling allowed her to see inside Vico’s heart and fight for him. Loved the fiery woman! She fought for what was hers. Lise’s friends were very amusing. Laughed a lot with their comments. Love these stories that made me feel good emotions and enjoy the reading. Good written story.

4.5 stars This was an excellent contemporary billionaire romance. This story revolves around two strong willed misinformed individuals. Vico buys Lise's father's business. She resents his takeover. She was very strictly raised to act befitting a lady. Unfortunately, Lise has seen the tabloids that imply he's a playboy. Much of her upbringing dictates her attitude and Vico considers her to be an ice princess. She has struggled with her self perception and with the sudden changes in both her personal and business life. One night leads to an unplanned child that neither knows how to deal with. There are many reveals as the story progresses which keeps the reader glued. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.
This is a stand alone read with no cliffhanger. The hero is an alpha Italian, wealthy, smart, driven man. He was raised in the streets until a tragic event puts him on the path of changing his life and becoming the man he is today. He is generous and loving to his family and friends. He is a great businessman and is good to his employees. His latest buy is a financial company in London. The company is on the skids and is in serious danger of going under. He buys it and sets his plans into motion to save the company. He has one thorn in his side. A 27 year old CFO, daddy was an original founder, that wants her way rather it is good for all or not. She was an officer while the company was going under. No matter, she thinks she knows best and is determined to get him out and take the company back over. He has other plans and his way is working.

She is a little rich girl that plays doormat to just about everyone in her life. Her mother is a first class witch (other word would be a better description). The daughter supports her and her lifestyle yet she constantly puts her down and tells her how to live her life. The daughter just allows her to get away with it. At 27, she really needed to grow a pair where the mother is concerned. But she chooses to just let her run things rather than put up a fight. So the mother just gets worse and she gets an ulcer.

She and the hero have a love hate relationship as she tries to put him in his place and he is trying to break her attitude of fighting him. So they go back and forth through the whole story as they go from enemies to lovers and eventually parents. It is a really good story. It shows how two people can go to a place in their heads and come up with the wrong answers every time. Do they learn from that mistake? NO. I really liked this hero. He was alpha and he was "in charge" but he got where he was by his own grit and he wasn't about to let anyone go against what he knew would work. One reviewer called him cruel. I really didn't see him that way at all. In fact, I wished he had tossed the mother out on her attitude but he didn't. To me she would have got her just desserts. It is a good story and I definitely recommend it.

SPOILER---now, don't read any further if it is going to upset you. The following is just my opinion and has no bearing on whether you may like the story or not. I didn't like the heroine. I thought she was a spoiled little rich girl that was use to getting her way "at the company". In her private life she was a doormat not standing up for anything and letting her mother and father tell her how to live her life, when to jump and how high. And she did just what they told her to do. That was part of the story so Ok to that. What I really HATE in a female character is when she tells him she hates his guts, wishes he would die and his "willy" would fall off. Then the next day she is totally puzzled as to why he has not called or tried to see her. Now she winds up in his bed, after she passes out in a club. The next morning she wakes up and starts rubbing him the right way. He comes to and tells her she will have to ask for it before he will go for it. SHE DOES. However, she was just "dreaming" all of this was taking place and it just seemed realistic! When she really realizes what she has done, she gets dressed, slips out of the room, calls a cab and goes home. Now, later she blames the whole thing on him. She was responsible for NONE of it. Right. Reminds me of the girl at the frat party that has a really good time and when she is caught she yells rape! But, he was sound asleep when she made the first move. She could just as easily have rolled out of bed and left. However, then there would have been no baby by accident. But she continued through out the whole story to make a move, he reacts and then she blames him. He even accepts blame a few times! OH NO YOU DIDN'T. And the scene at the pool with her mother. I could not believe she didn't once defend her baby's father. She just let that witch go on and on. Oh yes, she was drowsy, always an excuse tor this ninny. This gal needed to get a voice and use it. So, I really didn't care for her. It still is a very good story and an interesting read.
